Josh Bean “The Bean Machine”
Josh picked up a set of darts in September 2019 and instantly developed a love for the game and found he had a natural talent for playing he was selected to play for a men’s team in the Thursday night social league in MK and once he found his feet started winning. He also joined the JDC academy based in Milton Keynes you my know it as the MK Sharks Academy. In October 2019 under the guidance of Craig Neale and the team in 6 months he was playing at a green shirt (Men’s league level) and had been selected to play in the Bucks youth
county team. Over the coming months towards prior to lockdown Josh played in the County youth team also joining the Bucks super
league. Once he developed into the longer format super league games, Josh plugged away nicking legs here and there whilst also taking out impressive outshoots against strong opponents. In May 2020 Josh managed to get his first super league win and narrowly missed out on
getting his first 20 – 1 dart average whilst playing with the youth County team. Josh had at this point also started playing in the English GP series hoping to one day represent his country ,this was a tough series but he managed to get through to the 2nd stage of the knockouts.
Then COVID lockdowns began. Initially Josh was very positive and trained every day on a makeshift oche and board in his bedroom. He soon became disheartened as he missed the social and competitive side of darts. Josh dabbled in and out with darts at home until the spring of 2021. Once he realised that lockdown was coming to an end his enthusiasm and momentum picked up. Josh began playing again this year by joining the JDC foundation tour and starting again on the English GP series. Josh although starting a bit slow then really jumped into his stride managing to secure 4 quarter finals, 1 semi-final and 1 final on the foundation tour as well as hitting a quarter final on the GP series. This now brings us to today
Josh is now competing in MK on a Monday and Thursday night in the local leagues and then on Tuesday competing in a local league in
Northampton. On Friday he is now playing for a Northants Super League team. Weekends are now then taken up with training and the JDC academy if he is not playing on any English GP or adult tournaments testing himself against the best.
